Greetings from Kansas City, MO: I am writing to invite Native American artists to participate in the 4th Annual Kansas City Indian Art Market & Cultural Festival October 3 & 4, 2009.  We are making plans for it to be even bigger and better than last year.  Artists who participated last fall told us they were very happy with their sales and the hospitality shown them and they plan to return. Ours is a small festival…we had fewer than thirty vendors last year but they ranged from inexpensive to high end and all seemed to do well as we had several thousand people attend.   Our not-for-profit organization NCIAC has as its mission to educate the public about Native American heritage so in addition to the artists which are the main attraction, we offer cultural classes, displays, entertainment and children’s activities.   We hold our festival (dubbed KC Indian Fest) outdoors so you are welcome to bring your own ... Call for Artists: IARC Native Artist Fellowship

The Indian Arts Research Center (IARC) in Santa Fe, New Mexico seeks Native and First Nations artists to apply for its upcoming fellowships.  The next fellowship is the 2009 Eric and Barbara Dobkin Fellowship for Native Women, a three-month fellowship from March 1-May 31.  Other fellowships are for all Native artists and include the Ronald and Susan Dubin Fellowship (June 15-August 15) and Rollin and Mary Ella King Fellowship (September 1-December 1.)  Please forward to any artists, list serves, and individuals who may be interested.

The IARC fellowships were established to support Native American and First Nations artists at the Indian Arts Research Center at the School of Advanced Research in any medium. The fellowships include: a $3,000 per month stipend, housing, a studio, as well as travel and material allowances. ... (more)

"One to Six" Art Purchase Competition, Award Increased to $900.00

One artist's work will be selected as awards to be given to the six "2008 Cultural Award Winners". These "Art Awards" honors artists,educators, businesses/organizations, and citizens who have made a difference in our community through their work in the Arts and/or Humanities.

The Lawton Arts and Humanities Council will jury the artwork.  The artist will receive $900.00 for the six pieces, an increase over the previous years award.  The theme is open but should be appropriate to the Cultural Awards. ... (more)

White Bison’s 7th Annual Wellbriety Conference will take place in Minneapolis, MN April 17-19, 2008.  This year's conference is entitled Healing the Hurts: The Youth and Families Speak (Understanding the Power of Forgiveness).   

Our conference will focus on giving participants the opportunity to explore the issues surrounding intergenerational trauma and develop skills and gain resources that will help them to work towards individual and community healing.

Dear Tribes and Tribal Enterprises,

We encourge your tribe to send a young lady to represent your tribe in the Miss Indian World Pageant. The Miss Indian World Pageant is April 23-26, 2008, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Co-hosting the pageant this year is Soni Moreno (of the singing group Ulali) and Ky mani Marley (son of the legendary Bob Marly). The crowning will be at the Gathering of Nations Powwow on Saturday, April 26, 2008.  An application is attached to this e-mail.
